Two's company...
Most feline behaviorists agree that the average house cat leads a happier, healthier life if it has a compatible feline companion. If you are planning to adopt a kitten, consider adopting two at the same time. Two are twice the fun and having two can actually make life easier for you. Play is serious business for kittens. If you have two, they will direct their playful aggression toward each other rather than at your hands, feet, and other body parts. They learn through their rough-and-tumble play with each other to inhibit their biting. (Bite too hard and you lose your playmate!) They will entertain each other by chasing around the house rather than climbing the drapes. They will also provide good company for each other when you are away.
